Lilian is an Educational Psychologist (M.Phil, (UCT)), who has a private practice and consults with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. She started her career in education as a Learning Support teacher in schools for 18 years and during that time continued to study and qualified in Ed.Psych. She then was appointed in a full-time position as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Psychology, University of the Western Cape, from 1994 to 2006. She was responsible for co-ordinating and teaching courses for pre- and in-service teacher training, post graduate degree courses and clinical supervision of educational psychologists. Her field of interest is in inclusive education, learners with special needs, cognitive and metacognitive (thinking skills) approaches to education and assessment, including Feuerstein’s LPAD dynamic assessment. Lilian has an authorised Training Centre (ATC) in Feuerstein’s Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) and Instrumental Enrichment Standard and IE- Basic cognitive programmes. She has conducted many FIE workshops for educators, therapists, counsellors, and parents as well as being involved in projects at schools, colleges and universities. She has presented papers at conferences and published research articles in academic journals and chapters in books. She was past President of IACESA (International Association for Cognitive Education South Africa), and a past Vice-President for Africa, IACEP (International Association for Cognitive Education and Psychology).
