Dereck Jackson is an Educator, a Counsellor, a father and a grandfather. He studied Psychology in South Africa and the United States of America. He has spoken at conferences and schools in the USA, in the UK, in Europe and in many African Countries including Kenya and Nigeria. He has shared a platform with such famous names as Spencer Johnson, the author of Who moved my cheese? And John Petersen, consultant to The Pentagon. He addressed the International Conference of School Principals in Helsinki and the International Conference of young Presidents Organisation (YPO). For plus twenty years Dereck Jackson has been speaking to parents and educators about brining up children. His latest publication is the book Parenting with Panache which is a distillation of his guidance in five critical areas of concern: Discipline, parent Burnout, handling change and trauma, positive parenting and bullying. He has written other books namely Discipline without anger or tears and Parent Burnout. Dereck shares his extensive knowledge with the staff of schools, universities, and teachers training colleges. He addresses teachers and lecturers on practical aspects of education and in particular of understanding, managing and educating young people. He is the former head of a gifted- child centre and ran a guidance centre for children with educational problems. In addition to his work with children and parents he lectures extensively in the corporate world. His talks are peppered with examples and anecdotes and humour which make the attendee remember and utilise the tips more effectively. Dereck is retiring and planning on immigrating to Ireland to be with his family.
