In Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) literature, the collaboration between key stakeholders is essential for the effective and successful implementation of communication systems. For a child with complex communication needs, these stakeholders include parents or families, therapists, teachers, and the child himself/ herself. This talk will include an introduction to collaboration in AAC, with a specific focus on the collaboration between teachers and parents of children with complex communication needs, and how to better facilitate collaboration for this population in the South African education sector.
