TITLE: When Sex Doesn’t Fit the System: Neurodivergence, Sensory Needs & Intimacy
ABOUT THE TALK Sexual health is a meaningful yet often overlooked area of functioning for neurodivergent individuals. Differences in sensory processing, regulation, communication, and executive functioning can significantly impact intimacy, desire, and participation in sexual relationships. Yet these experiences are frequently misunderstood or pathologized.
This webinar explores sexual health through a neurodivergent and occupational therapy lens to better understand how sensory needs, cognitive processes, and environmental factors shape sexual experiences. Topics will include desire differences, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, communication challenges, and the role of structure and predictability in intimacy.
Drawing on clinical insight and practical application, this session aims to equip therapists and healthcare professionals with a more affirming, and functional approach to supporting sexual wellbeing in neurodivergent clients.
