Title: The Invisible Thread, Revisited: How Early Bonds Shape Our Adult Lives
About the Talk:
A deeper exploration of attachment beyond childhood, examining how early bonds shape adult relationships, therapeutic work, and the possibility of earned security. The invisible threads formed in our earliest relationships continue to shape how we love, trust, connect, and protect ourselves. Building on the foundations of attachment theory, this presentation explores how attachment patterns emerge in adult relationships, parenting, and the therapy room. Drawing on attachment theory, neuroscience, and Internal Family Systems, we’ll examine the pathways from early survival strategies to greater security, connection, and healing.
Presenter: Tova Steiner (Counselling Psychologist)
About the Presenter:
Tova is a counselling psychologist who sees individual clients and couples at Psych Central in Johannesburg. Passionate about early life attachments, Tova has studied Parent Infant Psychotherapy and is currently working on a podcast called The Quiet Shift, exploring themes in the postpartum space. Tova wholeheartedly believes that the early attachments and relationships in our lives shape much of our future, and that by exploring our past we can restore and repair parts of ourselves and work towards optimum mental health.
