Course Description
A stroke is considered a life threatening medical emergency. Many stroke survivors are admitted to ICU initially for acute medical management. The role of Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy during the first days and weeks following a stroke is critical to facilitating neurological recovery, increasing independence, and preventing secondary complications. This course breaks down each discipline’s role in acute stroke management, and is an essential course for any allied health practitioner working with the stroke population.
